Dare you visit one of Britain’s most haunted castles this Halloween?! The Muncaster Monster Cabaret with continuous entertainment, the Scary Maze (not recommended for under 12s particularly in the evenings), the Cannon ‘firing’ at 6pm with Foppletwig the Genie-hunter, the Ghostly Grotto with spooky crafts, activities and face-painting and lots more, are all included in Halloween General Entry ticket prices.
See the Hawk & Owl Centre’s fantastic Twilight Owls display when our falconers fly a selection of our beautiful owls in the gardens after dark (separate tickets required). We also have ‘Arroween’ archery with Independent Adventure here throughout and the Clip’n’Climb Wall is joining us for the busier days (small charges apply for these activities).
A theatrical event in the Castle and scripted new again for 2017 in association with the University of Cumbria, the Halloween Castle Ghost Tour will run at set times through the evenings. Ghost Tours sell out every year so book early to have your choice of date and time. The Castle Ghost Tour ticket is a ‘super ticket’ including general entry and daytime Castle visit but not the Twilight Owls.
The site opens from 10.30am through to mid-evening with Halloween activities commencing from around lunchtime.
A sell-out event in previous years, the Ghost Train is back on FOUR nights in 2017 with more spooky tricks than ever! Feeling brave? Travel the line in darkness and look out for some of our fiendish friends! The Ghost Train runs on Friday 27th, Saturday 28th, Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st (NB NOT Sunday 29th)
The Ghost Train steams out of Dalegarth Hollow at 6pm but please note that this is a one way journey only. Make sure you park in Ravenglass and allow time to catch the train up the valley. Activities at Dalegarth include facepainting and spooky arts & crafts.
Tickets are £16 adult, £8 child (3-15), children under 3 are free with the price including all day travel on the railway, a reserved seat on the Ghost Train from Dalegarth, the activities at Dalegarth and a spooky sweet goody bag when (or if) you make it back to Ravenglass! Please note: dogs are not allowed at this event.
This event is very popular and tickets must be booked in advance.
On Saturday October 28th, the Galloping Horse is having a Halloween Party in aid of Allerdale & Copeland Autism Support. There’ll be prizes for the best fancy dress, fantastic live music with Luke Matear (from around 8.30pm) and there’ll be some nibbles laid on, as well as a raffle and other opportunities to support the charity on the night too. Tickets are £10 per person, on sale from 1st August. They’re only available in person at the Galloper and numbers will be limited, so don’t leave it too late. All ticket monies go to the charity so get yours soon and make a start on that costume!
